What this page is for, and what it is not

FCV Tobacco Limited supplies raw flue-cured Virginia leaf. That is the material a cigarette or blending factory buys before anything is manufactured. We do not sell cigarettes, hand-rolling tobacco in retail packs, or tobacco-processing machinery, and we cannot help with those. If you manufacture or deal in leaf for Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine or another CIS market and you need Pakistan-origin Virginia leaf in container quantities, this is the right place.

What buyers in this region usually ask for

Manufacturers in the region generally work from a written specification, and the questions we see most often are about grade and chemistry: which stalk positions, which colour classes, and what nicotine, reducing sugar and chloride a lot will show. The processing form depends on the factory. A plant with its own threshing line normally buys whole or unstemmed leaf, a plant without one buys stemmed leaf or threshed lamina strips, and blenders who want a tightly specified chemistry often use the custom specification route. Routes and terms

We sell on FOB terms from an agreed named port in Pakistan, normally Karachi or Port Qasim, and the buyer arranges the onward freight. Under the ICC Incoterms rules, FOB means our responsibility ends when the goods are loaded on the vessel. Sea routes to this region run through the Black Sea or by sea-to-land routing, and some Central Asian buyers receive leaf overland. Which route is sensible depends on your destination, your customs point and what your forwarder can handle, and that is a conversation to have with your own forwarder before you commit.

Minimum order is one full container load by sea, which holds about 15 to 20 metric tonnes of FCV depending on the form, or 20 metric tonnes by land. Leaf ships in C48 cartons of 140 to 200 kg net, or in jute bags of about 50 kg for loose leaf. Payment is 50 percent in advance and 50 percent against the FOB shipment, and delivery is typically 30 to 45 days to the buyer's port. The details are on the packaging and export page.

Documents that travel with a container

Every container ships with a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and phytosanitary certificate, together with the laboratory analysis report for each lot. If you specify an independent inspection company, its pre-shipment inspection certificate is added. Pesticide residue analysis is issued where it is specified, and further documents your authorities require can be requested in advance. The quality control page describes sampling and testing.

What you need to confirm before you order

We supply leaf for industrial and manufacturing use to verified wholesale buyers, and the buyer is responsible for complying with the laws of the country of import. In practice that means settling several things with your customs broker, importer of record or legal adviser before placing an order: the import permit or licence your country requires for raw leaf, the excise and customs treatment of the leaf, any registration of the grade or origin, and how payment can be made. These rules change, they differ between CIS states, and they are outside our control, so we do not give advice on them. We can, however, supply the documents and the lot data your broker asks for.
