Leaf for Middle East and Gulf buyers

FCV Tobacco Limited supplies raw flue-cured Virginia leaf, grown in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to verified wholesale buyers. In the Middle East and Gulf that means tobacco manufacturers, blenders and established leaf dealers. We sell the raw material only. We do not supply finished cigarettes, retail packs or tobacco-processing machinery, so enquiries about exporting cigarettes or buying machinery are outside what we do.

The Middle East and Gulf is one of the eight regions we list on the worldwide supply page. Its established FCV import markets are close to Pakistan, which keeps sea freight competitive, and demand there leans toward the lemon to orange colour grades.

What buyers in this region usually ask for

Lemon and orange are the colour classes most often requested, so the lighter, brighter grades from the middle and upper stalk are where most enquiries start. The grades reference explains how stalk position and colour class combine into a grade code, and the catalogue shows each grade with its nicotine, reducing sugar, colour and packing, and a negotiable price per kilogram.

Processing form follows the buyer's plant. Factories with a threshing line buy whole or unstemmed leaf, and those without one buy hand-stemmed or machine-stemmed leaf, or threshed lamina strips. How a purchase works

We sell FOB from an agreed named port in Pakistan, normally Karachi or Port Qasim. Under the ICC Incoterms rules, FOB means our responsibility ends once the goods are loaded on the vessel, and the buyer arranges the sea freight and the insurance from there. A Gulf or Red Sea port is a short sea leg compared with Europe or the Far East, and your forwarder will be able to quote the actual transit time and freight for your port.

Minimum order is one full container load, which holds about 15 to 20 metric tonnes depending on the form. Leaf ships in C48 cartons of 140 to 200 kg net, or in jute bags of about 50 kg for loose leaf. Payment is 50 percent in advance and 50 percent against the FOB shipment. Delivery is typically 30 to 45 days to the buyer's port. The packaging and export page has the container figures and the process from order to loading.

Documents with every container

A commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and phytosanitary certificate come with every container, together with the laboratory analysis report for each lot. If you name an independent inspection company, its pre-shipment certificate is added. Pesticide residue analysis is issued where it is specified. If your port or ministry needs a particular attestation or an extra document, tell us when you enquire and we will confirm what can be supplied.

What to settle with your importer first

The buyer is responsible for complying with the laws of the country of import. Each Middle Eastern and Gulf country has its own rules for importing raw tobacco leaf: import licences, customs classification, excise or duty treatment, and sometimes registration of the importer of record. Those rules differ between countries and change from time to time, and they are not something we can advise on. Please confirm them with your customs broker or importer before ordering. We will supply the documents and lot data they ask for.
